Ernie DiBella Memorial Matches Headquarters, Pittsford, NY--April 30, 2001, 1:00 PM

Matthew F. Bielawa: First of all, let me welcome you all here to the headquarters of the Ernie DiBella Memorial Matches, and thank you for coming. We all know why we're here today. I have called this press conference to announce the date and venue for the 2nd Annual Matches. So, without further adieu, the Matches will be held on May 19th and 20th at CenterPointe Golf and Country Club in Canandaigua, NY. We will play 18 holes on Saturday the 19th, and 36 holes on Sunday the 20th. CenterPointe was kind enough to host us last year and we were very pleased with their efforts, so we have asked them to host us again this year. Now, I'd love to open this up to questions

Sal Maiorana-Democrat and Chronicle-Rochester, NY: Matt, why are you holding the Matches at CenterPointe instead of a more prestigious local course like Oak Hill?

Matthew F. Bielawa:Well, Sal, we at the DiBella Memorial are not flashy, and are more swayed by courses with rich tradition that we can connect to. Five of the Six competitors in the DiBella Memorial have at one time been members at CenterPointe, and we cannot ignore the striking line of Assistant Pros who have graced the Pointe with their presence. We would like to mention Jeff Pulli, Phil Muscato, Kevin Carrol, and the infamous Mike Kelly as those who have worked under the nationally renowned Jim Buchanan.

T.J. Simers-L.A. Times-Los Angeles, CA: Have there been any requests by CenterPointe to remove Mr. Martin from the Matches due to last year's events?

Matthew F. Bielawa: No, none at all. While Jim has treated me like s**t so far this year, he has made no request to keep Adam off the course. And, I might add that the 13th green looks great.

Mitch Albom-Detroit Free Press-Detroit, MI: On that note, could you comment on the conditions of the course

Matthew F. Bielawa: The course is currently in excellent shape. The greens are still a bit bumpy due to aerifications, but we have no doubts that they will be rolling perfectly on the 19th.

Bob Ryan-Boston Globe-Boston, MA: How will the construction on Route 332 hinder the spectators arriving at the course?

Matthew F. Bielawa: Route 332 is in fairly good shape and the large galleries that come to the DiBella should have no problem getting to CenterPointe. To help traffic, we have added five shuttle buses that will transport spectators to and from the course. These buses will be departing from Pittsford Sutherland High School, and from Ernie DiBella's front yard.

Tom Murphy-Brighton-Pittsford Post-Pittsford, NY: Hi Matt, My name's Tom. My whole life is taking pictures for high school sports. I want to get out more. Can I take pictures at your tournament?

Matthew F. Bielawa: Hi Tom, I've heard about you. All members of the media must apply for credentials no later than one week prior to the beginning of the matches. After you have been approved, you may take pictures at the course.

John DiTullio-WUHF-TV Fox Rochester-Rochester, NY: Is it true that David Kleiman is gay?

Matthew F. Bielawa: Geez John, I hate to have these type of questions come up. I know that there have been rumors that Dave is sleeping with his brother. It doesn't seem to be true though.
